WHAT KEEPS ME TICKING

In my practice , I see many complicated cases of long standing infertility ,who are totally frustated , and feel pity for them. Not all cases can be handled in Goa, and for such patients I advise the latest and best treatment options available in Mumbai and other places. During their course of treatment I have to give them lot of moral support, for which I have to spend a lot of time with them. It is a most taxing job. Most of my patients conceive and fulfil their dreams and are thankful - and when they go home with a baby in their arms it's a most satisfying moment which makes me feel that all the trouble I take is worth it.

I am almost always invited for the first birthday, and due to my working schedule I cannot attend any. But I do make it a point to send them a card on the occasion.

Mrs Lizette is one of my such patients . Of all the 'thank you' notes and letters I received till date , I think this letter takes the cake.

Dear Dr. Lawande

This little message comes all the way from Sanguem conveying our deep gratitude and a million thanks for remembering us in a very special way by sending us greetings on our child's birthday.

Doctor, I am always at a loss of words when it comes to thanking you. Either by way of words or deeds, I shall never be able to repay you, for the most wonderful gift you have presented us - by way of our child. Life seemed to be forlorn and meaningless before that, but now we look ahead with a purpose, and every moment of our life is filled with great delight. Its a pleasure to observe our child grow and all the things he does, says etc. If it wasn't for your efforts and dedication you've put into our case, we would've never experienced the brighter side of life.

I still remember the innumerable times when I used to come to you to seek a solution to our problem and the umpteen times when I used to weep, complain, and get frustated and desperate and the way you would patiently give me a hearing and boost my morale. The support, understanding and sympathy you had provided me in my difficult times and during my trials and tribulations shall never be forgotten. We are deeply indebted to you for all these things. Doctor, whenever I see my son, I often comment that he is the fruit of your labour. And I do pray to the Almighty to bless you with good health and long life to bless all those who have still been unfruitful in their lives. You have pulled us out from the dungeon and rendered a new meaning to our existence.

I feel complete for fulfilling this aspect which nature has bestowed a woman with - the task of nurturing, bearing and finally giving birth. Doctor, you have erased that horrible mark with which I h'd been stamped. The social stigma- As I walk with with my baby in my arms today, I am engulfed with a strage feeling of pride and happiness. Ultimately the woman in me is now a proud mother. Doctor, for all these wonderful things, I once again thank you wholeheartedly. And as I said before, my gratitude can never be expressed fully. The more I say, the less it would be.My husband joins me in conveying his gratitude too. I have never seen him happier than what he is today.

Doctor, no matter where we are and what we do, you will always be remembered and we shall pray to the Almighty to bless you with good health and a long life to provide happiness and cheer to all those who are stll struggling in their pursuit of happiness. May you continue to heal the lesser blessed and bring light to those homes which still are shrouded by a cloud of darkness. Let every woman who comes to you in distress return being delighted and fruitful. Doctor, please convey our gratitude to Dr. Maya too. She was a pillar of strenght and support during my delivery.
